Virginia Beach is a city located in the eastern part of Virginia state. This independent city is located at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. With a population of 459,470 as of the 2020 census, it is the most populous city in Virginia and the 43rd-most populous city in the nation.
The first English settlers to set foot in America landed at Cape Henry at the tip of Virginia Beach on April 29, 1607. Virginia Beach became an incorporated town in 1906. The city of Virginia Beach was designated as a city in 1952. Virginia Beach is known for being a resort city and its beautiful beaches, many hotels and resorts, restaurants, and attractions draw in visitors each year.
