National Flag Of Grenada

The National Flag Of Grenada was designed by Anthony C. George of Soubise in the Parish of St. Andrew. Grenada received independence from the United Kingdom On February 7, 1974, And Officially adopted its Flag On this day. The flag uses the pan-African colors of red, yellow and green. The Flag Of Grenada itself uses the yellow and green in diagonal quarters, with the flag being bordered in red. In the center is a red disc with a yellow star. On the border are six stars, three on top, and three on the bottom. On the hoist side of the Grenada National Flag is an image representing the nutmeg, which gives the island its nickname of “The Spice Island.”

History Of The Flag

The Colonial Grenada flag from 1875 until 1903 was the British Blue Ensign with a badge depicting a sugar cane mill moved by oxen and dark-skinned workers, with the Latin motto “Hae Tibi Erunt Artes”. The Flag Of Grenada from 1903 was the Blue Ensign with the badge now depicting a ship in full sail. The West Indies Federation was formed in 1958 out of the then British colonies in the Caribbean. however, it collapsed in 1962 due to internal political conflicts.
