National Flag Of Niger

National Flag Of Niger

Prior to Independence From French West Africa, The National Flag Of Niger was officially adopted by the Territorial Assembly of the Niger Colony On 23 November 1959. The Niger flag was designed in 1958. The Flag Of Niger was retained upon independence in 1960 and has remained unchanged through the 1999 Fifth Constitution.

The flag consists of three horizontal stripes in orange, white and green colors. Moreover, in the middle of the white stripe, an orange circle is placed. In 1922 the French blue-white-red vertical tricolor was flown in the area, as Niger was a French Colony. It remained that way until 1959 when Niger gained independence.

The new independent Niger adopted an orange-white-green tricolor National Flag Of Niger with an orange circle in the center. It is common for ex-French colonies to adopt a tricolor flag when gaining independence.
