The National Flag Of Seychelles was officially adopted On January 8, 1996. The flag design composed of five different colored bands (blue, yellow, red, white, and green) starting from one end and diverging towards the other end. The current Flag Of Seychelles is the third used by the country since its independence from Britain on June 29, 1976.
Meaning Of The Flag
These colors are meant to symbolize a fresh and courageous approach of this young country towards the future. The color blue represents the sky and the sea that surrounds Seychelles. The yellow in the Seychelles National Flag stands for the sun which gives light and life.

Origin Of The Flag
The original Flag Of Seychelles was adopted after independence on June 29, 1976. It had alternating blue and red triangles. In 1977, when president James Mancham was overthrown by France-Albert René, the old flag was abolished.
The red, white and green National Flag Of Seychelles based on the flag of the Seychelles People’s United Party came into use. When the party lost the majority in the elections, other parties demanded a change in the Seychelles National Flag and the present one is adopted.
