Qatar is a middle east country, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. By Train and Tram

The Doha Metro is a rapid transit system in Doha, Qatar’s capital city. Currently, It has three lines operational – Red, Green, and Gold with an approximate overall length of 76 km and 37 stations. It is an integral component of the larger Qatar Rail network, which will include a long-distance rail for passengers and freight, linking Qatar to the GCC, and the Lusail LRT.

Capable of reaching 100 km/h, the Doha Metro will be one of the fastest driverless trains in the world. Visitors can easily access Hamad International Airport, Katara Cultural Village, Qatar National Library, National Museum of Qatar, Souq Waqif, and more by taking the Doha Metro.

  • 06:00 to 23:00 from Saturday to Wednesday
  • 06:00 to 23:59 on Thursday and
  • 14:00 to 23:59 on Friday

Travelers can purchase Standard Travel Cards from any of the following retailers: Al Meera, Lulu, Carrefour, Family Food Centre, or Jumbo Electronics. Travel Cards can be top-up easily at the machines at any of the stations. It has also a website or you can also top up through the Qatar Rail app using your credit/debit card.

To get around Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), you can take the free Msheireb Tram. You can hop-on and hop-off at any of its 9 stations:

By Taxi, Limousine, and Ride-Hailing Services

Karwa, Careem and Uber are the most well-known taxi companies in Qatar. These three companies have also developed a mobile app to help a passenger book a taxi at an additional charge. The Karwa taxis are considered the most comfortable taxis in Doha because their cars are new, clean, safe, and spacious. Karwa also offers the Doha Limousine Service which can be found in Hamad International Airport and at major hotels in Qatar.

The flag fall rate for Karwa taxi within Doha starts at QR 4 and QR 1.6 per km while outside Doha is QR 1.90 per km (also applicable to the nighttime fare). The minimum taxi fare trip starts at QR 10 (including the first 5km). The minimum flag fare from the airport starts at QR 25.

Uber and Careem are the main players in Qatar when it comes to ride-hailing services. Mowasalat’s luxury fleet of limousines includes Impala, Passat, Audi, and Mercedes Vitto.
