What is The National Food of El Salvador?

El Salvador’s most notable dish is the pupusa, a thick handmade corn flour or rice flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, pork rind (cooked pork ground to a paste consistency), refried beans, and/or loroco (a vine flower bud native to Central America ).

The usual foods eaten on independence day are ice cream and minutes. Minutes is a funny Salvadorian name for snow cones. Cold foods are eaten because it can get very hot on independence day. Whether you are a participant or a bystander you will have fun.
