They focus on Indigenous histories and cultures, histories of European settlements and their interaction with the environment. The National Museum of Australia was designed by architects Ashton Raggatt Mcdougall and Robert Peck von Hartel Trethowan.

The National Museum of Australia is located in Canberra, Lawson Cres, Acton ACT 2601. The museum has more than 200,000 historical and Indigenous objects collected since 1980 and the museum has the largest collection of bark paintings in the world.
