What is The National Museum of Lebanon?

The National Museum of Beirut is the main archaeological museum of Lebanon located on Damascus street in Badaro. The museum was officially opened in 1942. Although the collection of artifacts began as early as the end of World War I, the museum officially opened in 1942.

About 1,300 objects are exhibited chronologically, from Prehistory to the Mamluk period. The museum has collections totaling about 100,000 objects, most of which are antiquities and medieval finds from excavations undertaken by the Directorate General of Antiquities.
