What is The National Museum of Iran?

The National Museum of Iran is located in Tehran. It is an institution formed of two complexes. The Museum of Ancient Iran (Muze ye Iran e Bastan) which was opened in 1937, and the Museum of the Islamic Era (Muze ye Dowran e Eslami) which was opened in 1972.

It hosts historical monuments dating back to preserved ancient and medieval Iranian antiquities, including pottery vessels, metal objects, textile remains, and some rare books and coins.

There are also a number of research departments in the museum, including centers for archaeology, conservation, osteology, paleography, and pottery studies.
