Las Cruces is a city in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. It is the county seat and the second most populous municipality in the state, after Albuquerque. Las Cruces is located in the Rio Grande Valley, at the southern end of the Mesilla Valley. The city is surrounded by mountains, including the Organ Mountains to the east and the Franklin Mountains to the west.

Las Cruces is a council-manager government. The city is governed by a mayor and five city councilors. The mayor is elected at-large, while the city councilors are elected from five districts. The city manager is appointed by the city council.

The valley is a long, narrow depression that runs from El Paso, Texas, to Socorro, New Mexico. Las Cruces is surrounded by mountains, including the Organ Mountains to the east and the Franklin Mountains to the west.
