Norfolk is a city located in the state of Virginia, United States. It is the second-largest city in the state and is the cultural, commercial, and transportation hub of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. The city is located at the core of the Chesapeake Bay region and is bordered by the Elizabeth River to the west and the Chesapeake Bay to the east.

Norfolk covers an area of approximately 96 square miles (249 kmĀ²) and has a population of approximately 244,000 people. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cool winters.
