Orlando is a city in the central region of Florida, United States. It is the county seat of Orange County and the geographic center of the Orlando metropolitan area. The city had a population of 307,573 according to the 2020 US Census, making it the 67th largest city in the United States. Orlando is Florida’s fifth-largest city and the state’s largest inland city.
Orlando, like other major Sun Belt cities, grew rapidly from the 1960s to the first decade of the twenty-first century. The city is named after Orlando Reeves, a soldier who was killed during the Second Seminole War. Orlando is known as “The City Beautiful,” and the fountain at Lake Eola is its symbol.
