Irvine is a city in Orange County, California, in the United States. It is a planned city that has been primarily developed by the Irvine Company since the 1960s. Gaspar de Portolá explored the area in 1769, which was originally inhabited by Tongva (or Gabrielino) Indians.

Irvine also has a small border with Orange to the north, which is formed by SR 261.
