The Flag Of North Macedonia was officially adopted On 5 October 1995. The flag depicts a stylized yellow sun on a red field, with eight broadening rays extending from the center to the edge of the field. The National Flag Of North Macedonia was designed by Prof. Miroslav Grčev who was an architect and graphic designer.
Originally, the first Macedonian flag depicted the Vergina Sun was and it was used between the years 1992 and 1995, but it was eventually abandoned since the Greeks opposed. Greece considers the Vergina Sun to be a Greek symbol and imposed a year-long economic embargo in order to force the then Republic of Macedonia to remove it from the North Macedonia National Flag. Finally, the current version that we see today, was adopted in 1995 where the Vergina Sun was replaced with a stylized sun.
