The Rhode Island red chicken is the state bird of Rhode Island.The Rhode Island red chicken was titled as the official state bird of Rhode Island in 1954. Its scientific name is Gallus gallus. The average weight of rooster is 3.9 kg and the average weight of hen is 2.9 kg. Their feathers are rust-colored. Darker shades are also known. Rhode Island Reds possess red-orange eyes.
