National Flag Of Nigeria

The National Flag Of Nigeria Was Designed in 1959 And First Officially Adopted On 1 October 1960, The day Nigeria was Granted Independence from the United Kingdom. The Flag Of Nigeria consisted of three vertical stripes – two green on sides and one white in-between. All three bands have equal width.

The Flag Was chosen From more than 200 drafts and The winning “designer” was a Student from the city Ibadan Michael Taiwo Named Micheal Taiwo Akinkunmi. His submission had a slightly different design than the present-day Nigeria National Flag. It was a bicolor with green-white-green vertical bands with a red radiating sun in the center. The judges later removed the sun from the design and the rest flag remained unchanged.
