Design Of The Flag

The Flag Of Turkmenistan features a white crescent (symbol of Islam) and five stars representing the five regions of the country. Placed upon a greenfield is a symbolic representation of the country’s famous carpet industry. The stripe features five carpet guls (medallion-shaped design elements of traditional carpets from the Central Asian region).

At the bottom of these guls are two olive branches crossing each other at the base.
