The National Flag Of Vietnam Was Designed In 1955 And The Current Version Of The Flag Was Adopted On 2 July 1976. The flag designed features a red field, which is designed to symbolize the national uprising of the Vietnam people. The center features a gold five-pointed star that symbolizes the main classes of society in the nation.

The Flag Of Vietnam was designed by Nguyễn Hữu Tiến. He was a leader of the uprising who was arrested by the French in advance of the failed uprising and executed 28 August 1941. The gold five-pointed star on the Vietnam National Flag symbolizes the five groups of workers in the building of socialism (intellectuals, peasants, soldiers, workers, and youths). The red color on the flag symbolizes bloodshed and the revolutionary struggle.

 

History Of The Flag

In the 18th century, The original Vietnam flags were adopted by Emperor Gia Long. This flag designed as a yellow banner with a red circle placed in the center. Japan occupied Vietnam in 1941–1945. The Japanese deposed the French colonial authorities and proclaimed an Empire of Vietnam with Bảo Đại as emperor In March 1945. French troops returned to Indochina in October and restored colonial power to the south. However, on March 2, 1946, the Vietnamese National Assembly adopted the flag unanimously as Vietnam National Flag.

On 30 November 1955, after the Geneva Conference and the definitive independence of North Vietnam, the design of the Vietnam National Flag was modified and the size of the star was slightly reduced. After the end of the Vietnam War, in 1976 the Flag Of Vietnam was also adopted in the territory of former South Vietnam. The Vietnamese national flag was adopted by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 5, 1945, but after North Vietnam captured Saigon in 1975, it later became the National Flag Of Vietnam, which formed July 2, 1976.
