The United States of America (USA) is located in central North America, between Canada and Mexico. The Map of the USA is the world’s third- or fourth-largest in terms of land area. The Nine Standard Time Zones
- Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone (HADT): This zone is UTC-10 and is used in the state of Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
- Alaska Time Zone (AKT): This zone is UTC-9 and is used in the state of Alaska, except for the Aleutian Islands.
- Pacific Time Zone (PT): This zone is UTC-8 and is used in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.
- Mountain Time Zone (MT): This zone is UTC-7 and is used in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and parts of North Dakota and South Dakota.
- Central Time Zone (CT): This zone is UTC-6 and is used in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
- Eastern Time Zone (ET): This zone is UTC-5 and is used in the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and parts of Indiana and Kentucky.

The Eastern Time Zone covers many of the most popular US cities, including New York and Boston, and is five hours behind GMT. The Central Time Zone, six hours behind GMT, covers the nine states of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, and Wisconsin in full. The Hawaii–Aleutian Time Zone covers both Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
The five states of Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming are fully contained in the Mountain Time Zone. The whole of California and Washington sit within the Pacific Time Zone, which is eight hours behind GMT. Parts of Idaho, Nevada, and Oregon fall within this and the Mountain Time Zone while Alaska is split between the Pacific Time Zone and Alaska Time Zone.
