The Deodar cedar found in the Western Himalayas is the Pakistan national tree. It is better known as the Himalayan Cedar or by its botanical name Cedrus Deodara. The tree has cultural importance in the Indian subcontinent, specifically amongst the Hindus who worship it as a divine tree. Forests full of deodar trees were the popular resting places for sages and religious scholars as per ancient Indian mythology.

The national tree of Pakistan is a large evergreen coniferous tree reaching 40–50 meters (131–164 feet) tall, exceptionally 60 m (197 ft) with a trunk up to 3 m (10 ft) in diameter. It has a conic crown with level branches and drooping branchlets.
