What is The National Tree of Colombia?

Wax Palm Tree is The National Tree of Colombia. Its scientific name is Ceroxylon Quindiuense. This tree grows mainly in the Province of Quindío.

The tree itself grows at altitudes of over about 3,200 feet and is the tallest palm in the world. The leaves were extensively used in the Catholic celebrations of Palm Sunday.

The outer part of the stem of the palm has been used locally for building houses and was used to build water supply systems for poor farmers.
