There Is No National River In China. China abounds in rivers, totaling 220,000 km in length. There are more than 1,500 rivers, each having a drainage area of over 1,000 square km. Famous rivers in China include the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, the Heilongjiang River, the Yarlung Zangbo River, and the Huaihe River. The Tarim River in Xinjiang is the largest inland river in China. Running across deserts, it has been known as the “river of life”. China Had Two Great Rivers Run Through China: The Yellow River in the North, and The Yangtze (or Yangzi ) River to The South.

The River Yangtze is the longest river in China. In fact, it is the longest river in Asia and the third-longest in the world with a length of 3,917 miles. The river plays a significant role in the culture, history, and economy of China generating 20% of the country’s GDP.

Yellow River

The Yellow River is the second-longest river in China and the third-longest in Asia. It is also the sixth-longest river in the world, running 3,395 miles from its source waters to its mouth, where it empties into the Bohia Sea in the Shandong province. Major hydroelectric power stations are built on the Yellow River.
