The Independence Day is the National day of Iran. The Independence Day of Iran is celebrated on 1, April every year. It is the day the country became a theocratic Islamic Republic state in the year 1979. Following the triumph of the Islamic Revolution of 1979, led by the Ayatollah Khomeini, the country was officially renamed the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran is a Middle East country which is situated in southwestern Asia and was referred to as Persia until 1935 by the West. Interestingly all through the long history of Iran, the country managed to remain independent, unlike several other Middle East countries. The Independence Day of Iran is declared a public holiday in the country.
